" Last semester we saw first-hand how
willingly the administration will listen if enough of us come
together with a message. As GEO members it might seem like we got
everything that we wanted, but there are still obvious systemic
problems on our campus and on campuses across the country. Despite
our contract gains the campus climate is threatening our positions
at this university. On March 4th we're joining in a national
movement to defend public education. The GEO is not alone in this movement at UIUC; we are joining with a coalition comprised of the Campus Faculty Association and the Undergraduate-Graduate Alliance, which is a conglomerate of
undergraduate RSOs. We are assembling at the Alma Mater on March
4th at noon. From there we will march forth to Swanlund for a
rally. "
